May 7, 2007 From the Files by Chip League Play off and Running Larry Benedet’s Hole in One, Barry Murphy’s eagle, the
first Tuesday Twilite couldn’t be called uneventful. So too was the first
official Industrial league as the East Enders have jumped
into an early lead followed closely by the now eight, Fab Five, thanks,
in large part to Pat Capello’s new irons. He’s just not monkeying around
the course anymore. The Tuesday Ladies returned from their winter
hiatus and despite their best efforts, just couldn’t confuse
the razor sharp pro shop staff. Not one bit! The quartet of wily Peggy
Moxon, Sue Landry, Mary McNamee and C. Smith stroked their way to a two
shot triumph over Elna Pfeiffer, Joan Dunbar, Shirley Barker and Ruth
Miller-Baker. Barb Geroux, Barb Murray, Dorothy Manson and Lucille
Crawford were another shot behind. Ninety shooters showed up for the first Wednesday
night Ladies swingfest sponsored by the Committee and Janie B Knits.
Norma Sweeney nailed down the Burns Jewellers Closest to the Hole
Certificate on # 8 while Rosemary Pender was nearest on # 15. Karen Cole
went deep on # 18 and Fran Laidlaw was Closest (so close she hit it.) to the soon to be named Turtle on #
12. Any suggestions? Ladies Wednesday night
Instruction Want some free advice Ladies? Al Morrison will be on
hand every Wednesday, prior to tee off, offering his expertise to anyone
wanting to improve her game. The Friday Night Mixed, a new idea put together
by Ed Carnrite and a host of others, welcomed 43 golfers to their first
evening of golf and food. Their holding another registration
this Friday starting at 4.00 pm followed by a shotgun start at 5.30.
Regular play starts May 18. It’ll be a two-person scramble. Chip Shots Treat Mother to a round of golf. The
carts on the Perth Golf Course. Chef Don is preparing a special
Mother’s Day Brunch ( call for reservations )
and the Pro Shop is offering a 20% discount on all Ladies
Apparel...The first of several Demo Days is May 15 when the Wilson line
of clubs will be featured on the range between 1.30 pm and 5.30 pm… It
will be followed by Tuesday Twilite, sponsored by George Ennis Electric….
